Book Review: Caraval by Stephanie Garbar

Caraval CoverBook Review: Caraval by Stephanie Garbar

In an unexpected twist, Scarlet’s childhood dream of attending Caraval comes true as she is preparing to enter into an arranged marriage. She knows she can’t attend, but her sister refuses to let her take the safe route, arranging instead their passage to the mysterious Caraval. Once there, Tella disappears, and Scarlett must find her in order to save her life, and hopefully the wish that comes as the reward for winning the game. The question is now, whom should she trust in place where nothing is as it seams?

So I’m a little late to the party on this book, but I was stalling until the series was finished (I gave up obviously). This novel is well written, and a quick read. Sometimes I wanted to poke Tella in the eye, because seriously??…but maybe that is the big sister in me?? LOL I’ll be curious to see where the next book takes the characters. I’m next on the hold list. WooHoo!

Quote: I think I loved the same quote most of Goodreads did: “Every person has the power to change their fate if they are brave enough to fight for what they desire more than anything.”

Recommended Grades: 9-12 (it’s suggestive, but not descriptive)
Genre: Fantasy
Overall Opinion: Recommend (Almost a highly recommend…there was one thread that I found a tiny bit predictable, but other than that it was great).
