Kyra is one of three elect potions masters in her country. When she has a vision of her best friend turning evil, she vows to kill her. The trouble? Everyone is hunting her, and she doesn’t even know where the princess is hiding. Forced to turn to an old enemy for help, Kyra must rely on a pig if she hopes to save the kingdom.
This book was a cute and quick story that will appeal to all those girls in my library looking for strong female characters. There is a great mix of humor and action. The story leaves room for more books, but since the author has passed away, I’m not sure if that will happen.
Quote that I loved, because I remember feeling this way in my late 20s…ironic if you realize that Kyra is only 16. Not the hungry part, but realizing you were suddenly aging.
That’s what going hungry did to a body.
But that wasn’t even the most appalling thing.
Her eyes. They were the same olive-colored eyes she’d seen in the mirror her entire life, but different somehow. They’d been changed by those horrible thing s she wished she’d never seen. They looked. Old.
She looked old.
Kyra needed to get a grip. The first sixteen years of her life she’d managed not to worry about how she looked. There was no reason to start now.
She turned away from the mirror.
